Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that really matter.
Martin Luther King Jr.
The power of using your voice in a noisy world is a vital aspect of achieving success in today’s society. It is crucial to have the confidence and knowledge to speak up for oneself and one’s beliefs, in order to make a positive difference in the world. By using your voice in a powerful and effective way, you can promote understanding, inspire change, and cultivate meaningful relationships with those around you.
So don't be afraid to speak up!
We live in a world where we are told how to act, how to speak, what to believe, and who to be. If we don’t conform to this mold, we are considered outcasts. As control is lost, they take away what little freedom we have to silence us. Our voice has been stolen. Standing up for what is right has been forgotten.
Having a different belief or viewpoint on a specific lifestyle has alienated us from everyone else. Our ability to have civil conversations with differing opinions is entirely nonexistent. It’s sad. It’s disheartening. It forces you into a level of seclusion and fear.
However, you deserve to be heard.
Confidence stems from refusing to let others dictate what is normal or right. The Bible gives us everything we need. Does it align with His truth?
No?
Okay, then evaluate and understand what truth is and how you will respond. This does not mean you ignore or isolate someone who thinks, believes, or lives differently. You don’t compromise your beliefs to validate theirs, but you can still be civil and understanding as you continue speaking truth over them.
Just because someone's truth differs from yours, does not mean they have any right to take away your right to speak what you believe.
We get caught up in the need to always be right. I am told I must respect, agree with, and support those living a different lifestyle. But I am immediately shut down and condemned for speaking my life and what I believe to be correct.
Why is that?
Why has our need to be right overshadowed the ability to agree to disagree? Can’t we leave it at that? And not find hate and blame in every sentence we speak. We have such an amazing platform to use to speak life, joy, and peace over others; we need to take that and run with it.
Choosing to speak up is just that, a choice. A choice whether to be silent or use your strength in God to stand up for what is right. You have so much to give to this world. Don’t let others silence your ability to make a difference.
So, what is your choice? Are you a lion? Or a sheep? Think about it.
